For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.  Quedlinburg, Altstadt
ADN-ZB Ritter 28.6.86 Bez. Halle: Städteporträt Quedlinburg-Enge Gassen und farbenfrohe Häuser prägen das Bild der tausendjährigen Stadt, die im Mittelalter als Kaiser- und später als Hansestadt Geschichte machte. Im Gebiet der Altstadt, mit einem Kern von rund 1, 5 Kilometern, stehen etwa 2000 Fachwerkbauten unter Denkmalschutz. Sie stammen aus dem 14. bis 19. Jahrhundert. Viele, wie hier in der "Schmalen Straße" wurden bereits restauriert und rekonstruiert. Wo es angebracht war, entstanden der Umgebung angepaßte Lückenbauten. In den vergangenen fünf Jahren haben sich für ein Drittel der Bürger die Wohnverhältnisse verbessert. 2440 Neubauten entstanden, 155 Wohnungen wurden rekonstruiert, weitere 524 wurden instandgesetzt bzw. modernisiert.-siehe auch 1986-0628-2-4N |
