For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Dresden, Weiße Gasse, Wohnhaus, Schlussstein ADN-ZB Häßler 5.11.1985 Dresden: Schlußstein- An einem Neubau der 50er Jahre unseres Jahrhunderts in der Dresdner Weißen Gasse 7 befindet sich dieser Schlußstein. Auch über den Eingängen anderer Bauwerke aus verschiedenen Jahrhunderten in Dresden zeugen solche Architekturdetails von der Liebe der Bauleute zu ihrer Stadt. Schlußsteine sind abschließende, meist keilförmige Steine über bogenförmigen Türen, Fenstern oder Toreinfahrten. Sie sind oft künstlerisch gestaltet, um die bloße funktionelle Wölbung aufzulockern.
