Berlin, Nikolaikirche, Dom, Neubauten ADN-ZB Deutsche Demokratische Republik 17.4.1985 Neubauten auf Urberliner Land (Serie-3 Motive) Auf dem ältesten Siedlungsgebiet Berlins, im Zentrum der Stadt, befindet sich das Nikolaiviertel (Foto). Es wurde im II. Weltkrieg erheblich zerstört. Nach 1945 entstanden neben Wohn- und Geschäftsbauten auch viele der historischen Bauwerke wie die Nikolaikirche (Mitte) wieder in alter Schönheit. Um sie herum gruppieren sich heute am Molkenmarkt neuentstandene bzw. restaurierte Wohn- und Geschäftsbauten. Im Hintergrund (r.) der Dom, links daneben aufragend das Handelshaus am Bahnhof Friedrichstraße. Allein in den letzten fünfzehn Jahren wurden in der Hauptstadt 248.000 Wohnungen neu gebaut oder modernisiert. Im gleichen Zeitraum entstanden u.a. 180 Schulen und 14 Feierabend- und Pflegeheime. Ein amtlicher stenographischer Bericht der Berliner Stadtverordnetenversammlung vom 10.4.1030 weist aus: "...Es ist im Etat kein Pfennig für den Wohnungsbau eingesetzt."
