For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Cottbus, Stadtmauer ADN-ZB Weißflog 18.9.1984 Cottbus: 35. Jahrestag der DDR-Jüngste Großstadt der Republik-Cottbus ist im Jahre 1156 erstmal urkundlich erwähn worden. Nur relativ wenig Sachzeugen haben die Jahrhunderte überdauert. Etliche von ihnen wurden im 2. Weltkrieg beschädigt oder auch zerstört. 1945 war die Stadt zu zwei Dritteln verwüstet. So mussten in den darauffolgenden Jahren die Sicherung der Produktion und die Schaffung von Wohnraum in den Vordergrund gerückt werden. Wo immer möglich, wurden jedoch die historischen Bauten darüber nicht vergessen, und es wzrde versucht, sie für die Bewohner nutzbar zu machen. Im Bereich der Stadtmauer schuf man z.B. einen Jugendklub. - siehe auch 1984-0918-1 und 3-5 N -
