Das erste Hochseeschiff der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik in Dienst gestellt.

Am 13. Oktober 1950, dem Tag der Aktivisten, wurde auf der Staatswerft Stralsund das erste Hochseehandelsschiff der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik auf den Namen "Vorwärts" getauft und 1 1/2 Monate vorfristig in Dienst gestellt. An dem feierlichen Taufakt nahmen die Arbeiter und Aktivisten der Staatswerft, der Minister für innerdeutschen Handel, Außenhandel und Materialversorgung, Georg Handke, Staatssekretär Bachem, Vertreter der Sowjetischen Kontrollkommission un der Generalinspekteur der Seepolizei, Verner, teil. UBz: Nach wohlgelungener Tauffahrt kehrt die "Vorwärts" in den Hafen von Stralsund zurück.
