e, with thickening of the entire ilium. From a child who had been operated upon two years before. Dr. E. H. Bradford. 8530. Hip Joint. A section through a portion of the ilium and femur,in fluid. The capsule about the joint is thickened, the head of the femur somewhatflattened and united to the acetabulum by fibrous adhesions. There is no evi-dence of any acute disease. From a boy nine years old who had symptoms of hip disease for five years.He was regarded as cured for the two following years, at which time here-entered the hospital and died a few days afterward of general tuberculosis.1893. Childrens Hospital. 9041. Hip Joint A section through the upper part of the femur andilium, in fluid. The head of the bone is largely absorbed and the cavity of the acetabulumfilled with fibrous and fat tissue. There is a firm, fibrous union between theend of the bone and the socket. Dr. E. H. 7870. Head of Femur. Tuberculosis. The bone shows a deep cavity at the upper and posterior part of the head,with great roughening of the joint surface and neck. 1881. Dk. C. B. Homans. 5249. Knee Joint. A section through the ends of the femur andtibia, dried. There is a complete bony anchylosis between the femur and tibia, at aright angle. From a man who wounded his knee with an axe ten years before, andwho died from tuberculosis of the lungs. 1842, 20 BONES. TUBERCULOSIS. 1421. Hip Joint. Half of the pelvis and right femur, dried. A section through the hip joint shows a firm, bony anchylosis of the headwith its socket. The head is thrown somewhat upward and there is a stronginward twist of the lower end of the bonp. From a man 20 years old, who, five years before was kicked upon the hipby a horse, and had been lame from that time. The thigh was stronglyinverted and carried toward the left side, and the hip quite prominent.Shortly before death he had suffered pain in the hip, and late
