The hills to the west of this range along thesouthern border of the alluvial plain have not been examined, but fromthe ftxcts just mentioned it is probable that boulders of this kind lie con-cealed beneath the detritus throughout the whole extent of that part ofthe Wyomanock Valley lying between Snake Hill and New Lebanon. Boulders of gray quartzite have been mentioned as occurring alongthe western slope of the Canaan and Lebanon Range, and these seem tooccur over all the region of the green quartzite boulders, besides beingfound also to the west of Snake Hill. It is probable that their originmight be found upon the hills lying still farther to the northwest. Quartzite boulders, both green and gray, may be found in all parts ofthe Shaker Valley, upon the Richmond Range, and in the RichmondValley ; upon the Lenox Range also, and in the Lenox Valley they maybe found here and there.
