253 Ab und zu sah ich auch unter den Eiern, welche lilngere Zeit seit Beginn des Experiments fixiert wurden, neben Eiern, welche schon die zweite Richtungsspindel ausgebildet haben, auch solche, welche die erste Richtungsspindel enthielten und in derselben an jedem, oder an dem gegen das Eiinnere gekehrten Pol 18 Chro- mosomen statt der gewohnlichen Neunzahl aufwiesen. Ich vermute, daB diese Richtungsspindeln mit verdoppelter Chromosomenzahl dadurch entstanden sind, daB die erste Richtungsspindel langere Zeit in dem Stadium des Muttersterns oder der Metakinese ver- weilte und da6 die Vierergruppen sich in ihre einzelnen Elemente auflosten.
