Ce centreparaît clair lorsque le ménisque anhémoglobique est au foyer de lobjectif ;des différences de mise au point donnent aux hématies des apparencesvariables, contribuant à entretenir les erreurs commises quant à leurforme. En nous basant sur lélude des organes hématiformateurs, nous consi-dérons lhématie sphérique, telle que 1,1, uniquement formée dune masseliématoxylinophile ou éosinophile, comme une forme jeune. Lexamen des hématies dans le sérum sanguin peut tromper sur la pré-sence tic cette partie anhémoglobique, celle-ci ayant le même indice deréfraction que le sérum. Que lon examine ainsi un globule sphérique ouhémisphérique tel que 2, présentant un ménisque anhémoglobique, ceglobule paraîtra cupuliforme, ou en croissant. Que lon examine de mêmeun globule pourvu de deux ménisques anbémoglobiques, tel que 3, ilparaîtra biconcave. Ces apparences cupuliformes ou biconcaves peuventdailleurs devenir réelles par résorption des parties doù lhémoglobine adisparu. Nous pouvons donc conclure ainsi : les hématies de lEléphant sont nor-malement sphériques, hémisphériques ou lenticulaires, et leurs dimensionsmoyennes
