\&2 — einem weiblichen Exemplar gezeichnet und zwar bei dersel- ben Vergrôsserung. Die von Stefanski und auch Cobb erwâhnten kristall- ahnlichen Kôrper in der Leibeshôhle unserer Tiere waren bei manchen Individuen in ungeheurer Menge, oft schon um den hintern Oesophagus herum zu sehen. Ich sah im Gegen- satz zu Stefanski nur lange, stâbchenfôrmige und kurze, etwas breitere Kristalle, die einer Tabellaria fenestrata im Umriss vôllig gleichen. Cobb hat als erster einige Vermutungen iiber die Wir- kungsart der Mundzahne geaussert. Er glaubt, dieselben dienten zum Ritzen von Gegenstanden, deren Kôrpersaft nachher ausgesaugt werden soll. Ich halte dièse Vermutung fur sehr wahrscheinlich ; doch ist môglich, dass die Zâhne ebensosehr zum Festhalten, wie zum Ritzen selbst dienen. Wie oben bemerkt wurde, lagen 79 a" n' zur Untersuchung vor ; bei allen war die prâanale Borste vorhanden, aber stets in Einzahl. Die Borste ist vermutlich sensitiver Natur ; immer- hin hat sie Rôhrenform und erweitert sich proximal trichter- artig, was seinerseits wieder der Vermutung ruft, dass sie als feines Driisenausfiihrungsrôhrchen funk- tioniere. Doch scheint mir die erste Ansicht mehr Berechtigung zu haben. Ekmann stellt fiir den Vcitterri- sée in Schweden, ein anscheinen- des Ueberwiegen des Ironus igna- vus Bast. var. brevicaudatus Bra- ckenhoff, also unseres /. ignavus f. typica, auf sparlich mit Chitinse- diment bedecktem harten Boden in 10—13'm Tiefe fest. Nach mûndli- chen Mitteilungen des Herrn A. MoNARD, scheint fiir den Neuen- burgersee nichts Derartiges Gel- tung zu haben. Die Form ist dort vielmehr in durchaus gleicher
