LES BAMBOUS. presque tous un double sillon assez accusé (%. 35). Dans le Bambou noir, les ramifica- tions ne commencent à apparaître que vers le huitième ou le douzième nÅud à partir du sol. Alors les .tiges se mo- difient; elles portent d'un nÅud à l'autre, et alternativement jusqu'à leur extrémité, deux cannelures générale- ment peu profondes, l'une plus large que l'autre, séparées par une côte lon- gitudinale. Deux ou rarement trois ramifications, partant d'un même point d'insertion, sortent de chaque nÅud. Lorsqu'elles sont deux, elles forment une sorte de V (fig. 35) dont les bran- ches sont un peu fermées ; l'une est un peu plus grosse et un peu plus longue que l'autre, suivant en cela la diffé- rence de largeur des cannelures. Leur disposition est oblique; elles sont rai- des, de forme à peu près triangu- laire, comme aplaties d'un côté, lon- gues de 0m,80 à lm,30. Ces deux sortes de branches se subdivisent elles- mêmes; chacun de leurs nÅuds porte des rami- fications : une sur les nÅuds du bas, deux sur les nÅuds du centre, trois sur ceux de l'ex- trémité ; mais sur ces derniers, celle du cen- tre est extrêmement petite et comme atro- phiée.
