BULEl'INUL SOCIETAfll L)E SCIINfE mouvement en hélice (?), sont ramassés sur eux-mêmes, et leurs tendons font défaut. Chose curieuse, les bandes désignés par la lettre c dans la figure 2 et dont l'extrémité distale s'attache contre les rayons de la nageoire anale, offrent une singulière disposition. Les dernières d'entre elles se recourbent toujours davantage pour à la fin se relever directement et former une bordure épaisse ar- quée à l'extrémité des muscles latéraux et s'opposer ainsi au déve- loppement des tendons de ceux-ci. L'extrémité supérieure de cet arc perd sa nature musculaire, se convertit en une masse blan- châtre d'aspect tendino-graisseux (k) et qui se met directement en communication avec l'extrémité postérieure de la moitié dorsale du muscle latéral supérieur (m). A cet endroit, au lieu de voir la masse charnue diminuer peu à peu d'épaisseur, nous la voyons cesser brusquement, et les muscles des flancs sont limités par un arc de cercle épais dont les deux extrémités appartiennent d'une part "aux
