Description
English: Built as the city gaol, Gaol Street Built in 1842 by Trehern & Duckham as the city gaol. When built it was equipped for weaving and making mats from cocoa-nut fibre. The right wing was later demolished. The remaining wing, now occupied by Elim Christian Centre, has four bays. The arched upper windows are barred. Part was adapted in the 1870s as a police station and later as a magistrates court, offices and fire station fronting de Lacy Street.
