Title
English: Building at corner of 1st Ave. and Pike St., Seattle, circa 1903
Description
English:

This building on the southwest corner of First Avenue and Pike Street in what is now the Pike Place Market neighborhood of Seattle was built in 1900. It was referred to variously as Knights of Pythias (K of P) Hall, Pythian Hall, and the Bartell Building until its purchase in 1915 by Frank Goodwin (1865-1954) of Goodwin Real Estate Company, who, with his brothers, developed most of the buildings comprising the Pike Place Market. This building was enlarged in 1916 to accommodate a stable for market merchants' horses, and later became the Economy Market Building. Another addition was built in 1978. The building continues to be a vital part of the Pike Place Market, located on the south side of the market entrance. The small stone building at the left edge of the frame is the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) building.
