Title
Buckle with a roller
Description
English: A Medieval copper-alloy oval framed buckle, dating to AD 1350-1400. The buckle consists of a oval frame, with a narrow offset bar, the pin and a recess for the leather strap. There are two diagonally extending prominent lobed knops, both plain in decorative details. The knops are flanking a recessed central section on the outer edge. This recessed section contains a separately attached 'roller' which consists of a piece of sheet metal wrapped around the section, the roller is a lighter shade of green than the rest of the buckle. The pin remains and is oval in cross section, tapering to a point above the roller. The pin is bent around the recessed bar.

Egan and Pritchard (1991) no 298.
