Title
Buckle plate
Description
English: A probable fragment of a copper-alloy buckle plate. This fragment is rectangular in shape and measures 23mm in length and 16mm in width. There is a small circular (rivet) hole near to one corner, 2mm in diameter. There is a larger incomplete perforation roughly in the centre of this fragment, 5mm in diameter. There are two curvilinear grooves on the front face which are likely to have been part of a decorative design, it is now impossible to say what this design may have depicted. This possible byckle plate fragment is most likely to be medieval, c14th century in date.
