Description |
English: Cast copper alloy buckle plate dating to the Medieval period. The object is rectangular in plan and cross-section. It is incomplete and has a broken perforation at one end, possibly for attachment. Another much smaller perforation is at the opposite end. The upper surface is decorated with a debased animal possibly looking left. Surrounding the animal the object has been inlaid with enamel. The enamel is brownish orange in colour. The reverse of the object is flat and undecorated. It has a dark brown patina. |
