Title
Buckle plate/belt fitting
Description
English: Cast copper-alloy openwork buckle plate/belt fitting. Sub-rectangular; one corner missing. Propeller-shaped end, both expanded ends have rivet holes. There is an extension from either outer edge and the centre, forming two sub-triangular openwork elements, joining a sub-rectangular plate. The upper corner of the plate is recessed and there is evidence for a circular hole at centre. The raised ridge which divides the propellor element from the plate is decorated with incised diagonal lines. Dull green patina. Another less complete example of a propeller-shaped terminal to a belt-fitting can be seen on the PAS database at BUC-C90E65.
