Buckle pin |

Description |
English: A complete copper-alloy buckle pin, the rest of the buckle is now missing. This buckle pin is large, measuring 46.7mm in length. It has a circular attachment loop, 12.8mm in external diameter and 7.3mm in internal diameter. Where the loop meets the shaft of the pin there is a transverse ridge. The shaft tapers towards its tip and is roughly oval in cross section it measures c5mm in width. This pin is slightly distorted due to heat damage and was found in association with early Anglo-Saxon long brooches and other artefacts, it is therefore likely to have originally been deposited in an early Anglo-Saxon cremation. |
