Title |
buckle frame |
||
Description |
English: A copper alloy Medieval buckle frame. The frame is rectangular but with the inside edge incomplete due to old breaks. The outside edge is decorated with a centrally placed king's head. The crown has three, triangular protrusions where the fleurs would be expected, and the tips of each of these are missing. An incised line defines the base of the crown, and the face is in relief, with triangular-shaped eyes and incised lines defining the lower cheeks and mouth. There are knops on the angles of the frame suggesting shoulders, and further moulding along both sides or arms. The inside edge is undecorated. The buckle frame measures 26.19mm in length, 23.11mm in width and weighs 3.85g. |
