Buckle annular with pin back PAS |
||
Description |
English: A Late Medieval/ Early Post-Medieval (1450-1550) copper alloy double-looped annular buckle frame, complete with pin. The frame is in the form of five flower petals. Each petal has a series of about twelve radial grooves. The pin has been made from sheet copper alloy loosely wrapped around the bar. The pin can easily slide along the bar. The buckle is in good condition. It measures 37 mm outside diameter, 27 mm inside diameter, and weighs 7.9 grams. Similar buckles can be found illustrated in Whitehead (1996, 47; refs. 272-274) and Margeson (1993, 29; ref. 157), where they are dated to the Late Medieval/Early Post-Medieval periods (c.1450-1550 AD). |
