Description
English: A Medieval copper-alloy buckle plate, dating to AD 1100 - 1200. The buckle plate is sub rectangular, consisting of two integral rectangles, one is almost square, undecorated, has a central dome headed rivet and a circular knops on the outer corners, one is missing. The other half of the plate is shorter and tapers slightly at the end, it is decorated with a central horizontal raised rib, either side are vertical incised lines which cover the width of the plate. The underside is undecorated but retains part of the cylindrical rivet. The buckle plate has retained traces of gilding on the surface.
