Title
Buckle
Description
English: A Medieval copper alloy single looped buckle, probably dating to c. AD 1250-1350. The buckle has a sub oval loop with an expanded outer edge and recessed and narrowed bar. The outer edge has a central notch serving as a pin rest, with the expanded section being slightly bulbous to either side of it.

Dimensions: length 25.5mm; width 25.7mm; thickness 5.3mm; weight 9.94g.

In terms of its form the buckle frame resembles Meols type 11, dating to the late 13th and early 14th centuries. A near identical buckle is published by Egan & Pritchard (2002: 77, no. 316), found in a context dating to c. 1270-1350.
