Title
Buckle: A cast copper-alloy asymmetrical buckle with iron pin, AD 1575-1700.
Description
English: An incomplete Post Medieval cast copper-alloy buckle dating from AD 1575-1700. The object is a double loop asymmetrical buckle with bevelled outer edge. The outer edge is decorated with a small incised line to act as pin rest and a further two lines emanating from the pin rest to create a rough chevron shape. There is also a raised moulded knop at either end of the strap bar. There is an incomplete unrecessed cast plate attached to the strap bar with a missing terminal; from the centre of this plate the iron pin has broken off. The buckle measures 28.15 mm long, 21.08 mm wide, 2.77 mm thick and weighs 6.04 grams. Cf. Whitehead 2003, pp 90-91.
