Summary

[edit]
Description
English: 'Shepherds beech' in Dobbin, the largest beech in Mecklenburg, Germany. Natural monument since 1987. Measuring 840 cm in circumference, this beech belongs to the largest of its kind in Europe. Known by the name 'Hudebuche', it is a relict from the time of forest pasturage, which was carried on around Dobbin until the beginning of the 20th century. The name of this tree goes back to the sheperds seeking a shady spot for themselves and their herds in the summer. Deutsch: Die 'Schäferbuche' von Dobbin, die stärkste Buche Mecklenburgs. Naturdenkmal seit 1987.
