Summary
[edit]DescriptionBrynmawr Station site of 1930182 79df8c0d.jpg |
English: Site of Brynmawr Station. View SW, towards Merthyr (to right) and Blaina, Aberbeeg and Newport (to left); ex-London & North Western Abergavenny - Merthyr (Heads of the Valleys) line. Track-bed bottom right is coming from Abergavenny, the derelict signalbox was Brynmawr & Western Valleys Junction, at junction of line from Blaenavon (High Level) (track-bed centre-left). Brynmawr passenger station had been roughly where the sheds are (with house behind); Brynmawr Goods was on a separate line over to the right. [These details are open to correction by someone who knows better!]. Passenger services from Newport via Pontypool and Talywain ceased on 5/5/41 (goods until 6/54) and the Abergavenny - Merthyr line was closed on 6/1/58, but the station remained as a terminus for the trains from Newport until 30/4/62, for goods until 11/63. |
