English: Folder: Portraits-Bruton Sisters.
On back: "SISTERS TO DO GIGANTIC MURAL FOR S. F. FAIR - Awarded a $20,000 contract for a mural relief for the west wall of the Court of the Pacific at the 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition, the three Bruton sisters of Alameda, California, noted muralists, are shown here in their studio giving the finishing touches to a painting of the gigantic panel which will be 144 feet long by 57 feet in height. Called 'The Peacemakers' the mural is symbolic of peace in the Pacific. Seated in the foreground is Esther; Helen is wielding the brush; while Margaret stands watching the work with a critical eye. (GOLDEN GATE INTERNATIONAL EXPOSITION) 8-213-C". |
