Description
English: The European Council of Brussels met under the Presidency of Helmut Kohl, German Federal Chancellor, and with the participation of Heads of State and Government of the Member States of the EC. The European Council examined several points: the pursuit of the establishment of the common EC strategy to restore economic stability; the preparation of the next economic summit in Williamsburg as of May 1983; negotiations with Spain and Portugal in view of their accession to the EC. Moreover, the Council noted the report on the work progress of the CEC communication concerning the financing of the future EC, and discussed the situation in the Middle-East, particularly regarding the lack of peace among Israel and its’ Arab neighbours. Lastly, the conflict between Iran and Iraq was also a subject of discussion.
