Summary
[edit]DescriptionBrooding sea anemone Epiactis prolifera 4.jpg |
English: Brooding Sea Anemone, Epiactis prolifera. The numerous young in different stages of developmentare seen on the pedal disk are derived from eggs fertilized in the digestive cavity. The brooding anemone is a colonial hermaphrodite that fertilizes and incubates its eggs internally. The motile larvae, after swimming out of the mouth, migrate down to the disk and becomes installed there until they become little anemones ready to move and be able to feed themselves. The image was taken in a tide pool. |
