Brooch of Headstud type
Description
English: Cast copper alloy brooch of Headstud type, bow now crushed, originally inlaid with a pattern of triangles filled with white (?) enamel. Foot terminates with a cylindrical boss, its sides apparently indented. Above this is a groove and band covered with incised, transverse lines. Wings of bow marked by two transverse grooves on each side, underside of head slightly hollowed. Head stud boss marked by an annular groove which apparently contained an enamel inlay: red?. Hinge type mechanism, pin and much of catch plate missing. Generally fair condition
