Title
Brooch
Description
English: An incomplete A copper-alloy Roman conical disc brooch of Hattatt's 'Tutulus' type, suggesting it is likely to be continental. It is missing the pin.

The plate is circular in form. On the front face is a hollow central conical projection with three steps and a small central projection. On each step the lip curves outwards. There is a collar to the central projection with transverse grooves. On the back face is a catch plate and broken double pin lug.

This brooch measures 22.77mm in diameter, 10.11mm in height, 1.63mm in thickness, 4.40g in weight.

There is a similar example in Hattatt (Hattatt, 2000, nos. 1068, 1069 and 1578). There are similar examples from Suffolk recorded on the PAS database (SF-175635) (SF-D2D446).
