Title

Brooch.

4514
Description
English: Cross shaped fragment of a florid cruciform brooch, Anglo-Saxon. Traces of gilding. Helen Geake writes: The image attached to this record appears to show the inner panel from the footplate of a great square-headed brooch of Hines's Group XV, with a pair of S-shapes set to form a curly swastika. The same motif occasionally occurs on Kentish small square-headed brooches. The classification field for this record has therefore been changed to 'square headed'.
