Title

Brooch.

4182
Description
English: Foot fragment of a square headed brooch. Animal head terminal, parts of catchplate. Lobes with stamped decoration. Helen Geake writes: The image attached to this record shows the lower part of a cruciform brooch, and the description seems to match this too. The image is of a horse-head terminal with the remains of a lappet to either side of a flat panel decorated with stamped ornament. This dates to the sixth century AD. The entry in the classification field has therefore been changed from 'square headed' to 'cruciform'.
