Title
Brooch, lead, disc
Description
English: Late Anglo-Saxon brooch made from cast lead. The face bears a motif consisting of a triqueta, its three arms made up of two raised lines their ends terminating in pairs of opposed scrolls surrounding pellets. In the centre of the disc is a single pellet and, around its edge, is a ring of pellets. The brooch is crushed and no trace of remains of the pin and clip.

On the back of the brooch is a series of scratches which could, with the eye of faith, be interpreted as the stern of a ship, with two steering oars a mast and a yard.
