Brooch, headstud type
Description
English: Cast copper alloy brooch of headstud type, finely executed with sharply defined lines. Bow has a rectangular section expanding towards the head. On the end of the foot is a domed finial around with are two circumferential grooves, its top is marked by incised lines. The headstud on the top of the bow is similarly marked. Below this protrudes a well defined lug 5.6 x 4.0 x 2.0mm the top of which bears two incised lines. On the top of the head is a 9.8mm diameter ring set on a rectangular moulding which is decorated with incised grooves and fine lines. The wings are also marked with transverse grooves. The pin survives and is of the hinged type, it engages in cast catch-plate.
