Title
Bronze Age tanged knife fragment (probably)
Description
English: A fragment of a copper-alloy blade of Bronze Age date. The dimensions and the lack of any significant taper suggest that this piece is probably part of a tanged knife. Such implements date from the middle to late Bronze Age (c. 1500BC – 800BC).

The blade has been broken off at both ends. It is parallel-sided along most of its length although there is slight convergence of the sides at the bottom and, close to the top, a slightly narrower 'waist'. Extending down the centre of each surface is a broad vertical ridge, creating a lozenge-shaped section. At the centre of the top edge is a small concave depression which probably represents part of a rivet hole for afixing a handle.

The surfaces are corroded. The piece measures 30.53mm long, 17.2mm wide and 3.11mm thick. The weight is 6.35g.
