Title
Bronze Age spearhead
Description
English: A copper-alloy socketed spearhead of Late Bronze Age date (c. 1000-800 BC).

The socket is of circular section, measuring 25.1mm in diameter at the opening. There are two opposing circular peg holes, located 18mm up from the opening. The socket has also been damaged in antiquity, a large crack extending from the base to the top. The diameter of the conical socket gradually decreases upwards, ending approximately one third of the way up the leaf-shaped blade. The depth of the socket is 93mm. On both sides of the blade, the socket tapers into a central ridge which extends to the tip. The artefact is pitted in places, but generally survives in good condition. It measures 181mm long, 36.7mm wide and weighs 188.1g.
