Title
Bronze Age socketed axehead (incomplete)
Description
English: An incomplete copper-alloy socketed axehead of late Bronze Age date. The upper part of the axehead, including the socket, is missing. The artefact has been cast in a two-piece mould and is hollow. As the thickness tapers, the width expands gradually towards the convex cutting edge, which has been flattend through use. The surface of the axe bears traces of a black coating. The remainder of the surface has a light green patina. The object measures 42.2mm long, 37.7mm wide (at the blade) and 14.2mm thick (at the point of the break). The weight is 58.97g.
