Title
Bronze Age socketed axehead (fragment)
Description
English: A fragment of a copper-alloy socketed axehead of Late Bronze Age date. The piece represents part of the socket end of the implement. On the outer surface, just below the curved rim, is a broad band with a convex surface. At the base of this band is a groove and below this, a narrower, lower ridge. The artefact has a dark green patination which extends across the edges, indicating that the break occurred in antiquity. The piece measures 35.6mm long, 27.9mm wide and 6.5mm thick. The weight is 20.2g.
