Title
Bronze Age socketed axehead (fragment)
Description
English: A fragment of a Late Bronze Age socketed axehead.

The piece represents the lower part of the blade, including the cutting edge. The axe is hollow, increasing in width, but decreasing in thickness, towards the convex cutting edge. The artefact has a bright green patina and is heavily corroded, particularly around the edges, where there is a powdery white corrosion product. A central casting flash, visible on each of the two narrower faces, indicates that the artefact was produced in a two-piece mould.

The object measures 34.5mm long, 50.6mm wide and up to 17.6mm thick. The weight is 82.06g.
