Title
Bronze Age socketed axehead (fragment)
Description
English: A fragment of a copper-alloy socketed axehead, of Late Bronze Age date. The piece represents part of the socket. The curvature of the rim suggests that the opening would have measured between c. 25 and 30mm in diameter. A wide ridge extends around the top of the outer surface. The object is very corroded although the inner surface retains a dull green patina. The fragment measures 22.5mm long, 16.9mm high and 4.3mm thick. The weight is 6.09g.
