English: Almost complete copper alloy triple ribbed socketed axe with single loop. Main socket moulding plus further decorative moulding below. Faces decorated with three short ribs. Irregular hole (casting flaw) on side behind loop, which is also poorly cast. Blade severely damaged (lump broken off and severely bent/blunted elsewhere) by heavy use? Medium/dark green patina with corrosive encrustations. |
