Bronze Age retouched flake
Description
English: A knapped flint retouched flake, possibly a side and end scraper of probable Bronze Age date (c. 2350-800 BC). The piece is struck off a secondary flake with 10% of the cortex remaining on the dorsal face. The piece is broadly triangular in shape, narrowing along its length to a rounded apex. The dorsal surface exhibits three narrow negative flake scars from previous removals. The ventral face has lost it's bulb of percussion to damage but has weakly defined widely spaced conchoidal ripple marks. There is scalar to sub-parallel, semi abrupt short retouch running aroudn the corner of the distal end, damage in the centre of the end may have removed more retouch. The longest mesal edge, opposite the patch or cortex, has evidence of neat short scalar semi-abrupt retouch at both ends with none in the middle.

The flint is a translucent dark brown in colour, with light grey speckled inclusions and patches of iron staining. The artefact is 29.10mm in length with a maximum width of 27.55mm and a minimum width of 11.51mm. It is 9.47mm thick with a weight of 8.26g
