Bronze Age retouched flake
Description
English: Knapped secondary flint flake, retouched down one edge, possibly a scraper of Bronze Age date. A large thick flake struck at an angle off previous workings with a prominent bulb of percussion on the ventral face. There is a small area of original cortex at the proximal end covering c.5% of the entire surface. There is shallow scalar chipping down the right edge on the ventral face which is very irregular and may be damage. At the distal end and down the right edge on the dorsal face is long, abrupt, scalar retouch. several large chips have come out of the retouch area but th edge may originally have been straight. It si made of mid-dark grey flint with paler mottling which has developed a brown surface stain. It is 46.1mm long, 24.4mm wide and 12.1mm thick; it weighs 11.59 grams.
