Title
Bronze Age palstave (fragment)
Description
English: A fragment of a Middle Bronze Age palstave.

The piece represents the top of the implement, to which the shaft would have been attached. The rounded top side extends smoothly into the vertical sides, which are straight and diverge towards the point of the break. On both of the palstave's two wider surfaces, each edge is marked by a right-angled flange, the height of which increases towards the bottom. These flanges border the flat central area. The patination of the piece extends across the break, indicating that the damage occurred in antiquity.

Dimensions: 35mm long, 17.8mm wide, 5.4mm thick. Weight: 11.44g.
