Title
Bronze Age or Iron Age ingot
Description
English: A fragment from a gold ingot with sub-rectangular cross-section and a number of hammer marks on the two largest faces and granular breaks. There are a number of scuffs and scratches to the surface.

The fragment has parallels with ingots previously identified as prehistoric date (including Trowse with Newton, Norfolk: 2002 T99; and the more substantial finger-shaped ingot from East Claydon, Buckinghamshire: 2013 T850). It can, on the balance of probabilities, be identified as being of prehistoric date.

As an object of precious metal of prehistoric date, the fragment of a probable ingot from West Knoyle qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act (1996).
