Title |
Bronze Age lithic implement: thumbnail scraper |
||
Description |
English: A small, sub-circular, flint, thumbnail scraper. The scraper has been made from a primary flake of dark brown flint. There is a flat striking platform and a clear bulb of percussion at the proximal end of the flake, with ripples of percussion across the ventral face.The dorsal face is largely covered in a thick, light brown cortex. The scraper has been abruptly and steeply pressure flaked around one edge at the proximal end. There is further, shallower pressure flaking around the edge of the distal end of the flake. These types of small thumbnail scrapers date to the Early Bronze Age. |
