Title
Bronze Age flint scraper
Description
English: An incomplete Late Neolithic to early Bronze Age flint scraper, probably dating to c. 3000-1000 BC. A tertiary flake of brown/beige flint mottled with paler areas and with one ferrous inclusion visible in a break (see below). The flake has natural breaks on two sides, with the proximal end and left edge both lost. The curvature of the ventral face would suggest that near to the flakes original length survivives. All along the curve of the surviving worked edge exhibits retouch (short, sub-parallel/stepped in places, semi-abrupt) on the dorsal face, all struck from the ventral, which is unworked, although it does exhibit the distal end of a fairly diffuse bulb of percussion.

Dimensions: length 30.0mm; width 18.2mm; thickness 9.0mm; weight 5.88g.

Although fragmentary, the nature of the retouch would suggest a Neolithic or Bronze Age date, with other material in the same assembage suggesting a date at the later end of this range.
