Title
Bronze Age dagger: Dagger
Description
English: A cast tanged dagger or knife dating to the Late Bronze Age. The blade is broadly rectangular in plan, slender and with a lozenge-shaped (pointed oval) cross-section. The blade has the remains of shoulders just beneath the narrowed rectangular tang - the blade is broken down each lateral edge. The tang has a single rivet hole with a sloping edge, being sub-circular in plan. The balde has a dark brown, almost iron-like patina.

A similar example, WILT-83A428 is dated to the late Bronze Age Wilburton and Ewart Park phases (1000-850 BC), as is another possibly cut-down example from Woodstock in Oxfordshire (BERK-302CB3). A very similar example is DOR-FAC625.
