Title |
Bronze Age copper alloy flat axe. |
||
Description |
English: An incomplete copper alloy palstave dating to the middle Bronze Age. The axe is in a good state of preservation despite missing its butt-end. The main body is rectangular in cross-section and has very smooth sides. The body flattens and flares to the blade which is comparitavely very wide and seemingly unworn. The cutting edge is still sharp and one of the tips is still worked to a prominant point. The surface of the axe is pitted in places, but otherwise smooth and stable.
The axe is 81mm in length and 62mm wide at the blade end. The break at the butt end measures 25mm x 14mm. |
